September – I Will Work a Workout Into My Schedule

OK, you had to know it was coming. No New Year's resolution list could be complete without it! Yes, if you're able, you should get into the habit of exercising several times a week. Not just to lose weight, but as a way of honoring yourself. You deserve to be fit, to feel good, to have lots of energy. Just a simple 30-minute walk can do wonders for your outlook – and it can be a lovely experience, especially when the leaves begin to change.

October – I Will Revamp My Workspace
Just because your employer owns your office doesn't mean you can't fix it up exactly the way you want it. Bring in family photos or some books you care about or some lush green plants. Even people who work for themselves sometimes neglect to create a beautiful workspace. This makes no sense to me. You spend at least 40 hours a week at work, you might as well surround yourself with things that make you feel creative, peaceful, energized, excited.

November – I Will Seek Out Perfect Moments in Life
Life is full of opportunities for joy. We sometimes think holidays – Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah – are those perfect moments, but often they are not. Sometimes perfect moments are disguised as hardships. In my book, I describe how my family and I turned a thunderstorm power outage into a fun indoor "camp out" complete with sleeping bags, candles, sandwiches and board games. This month, keep your eyes open for unexpected perfect moments. I guarantee you will find some great ones.

December – I Will Start a Gratitude Journal
Spirituality, a critical part of the Good Life, is all about giving thanks for the bounty that surrounds you. Make or buy a beautiful book with blank pages. Each day, write down one thing for which you're thankful. Maybe it's your son's first word or your beloved pet or the way the sunlight streams through your kitchen window. When you're feeling down, reflect on your Gratitude Journal. You'll discover you're already living the Good Life.

April – I Will Buy Only Quality Items
If you need a new umbrella for those April showers, buy a really good umbrella! How many "cheapies" have you bought, only to have them break or turn inside out in heavy gusts? Many people don't realize that buying finely made things is a way to save money. Quality items last for years, and you won't have to constantly replace them. And because you like them so much, you won't be constantly looking for a new one.

May – I Will Find a Good Mini-Butler
Do you hate grocery shopping or picking up laundry or taking the car for a tune-up? Delegate! A college student or a retired person might be glad to take on your mundane chores to make some spending money. I call these helpers "mini-butlers." Living the Good Life means not spending your valuable time on tasks you dislike. Look for one task this month you can delegate – and find a good mini-butler to do it!

June – I Will Turn Off the TV Three Nights a Week
Television can be a wonderful tool for entertainment and education, but indiscriminate viewing can consume too much of your valuable leisure time. Carefully choose the best shows for you and your family; then spend the rest of your time doing something more active. This month, vow to turn off the TV at least three nights each week. Spend those evenings reading a good book or playing with your kids or having a picnic dinner in the park.

July – I Will Connect With One New Neighbor
